Overview

The Zoetis reference lab Integration streamlines the diagnostic process by enabling veterinary practices to electronically submit lab orders and receive results directly within the DaySmart Vet platform. This integration enhances efficiency by reducing manual data entry, minimizing errors, and ensuring faster access to critical lab information. Results are automatically linked to the patient’s medical record, making it easy to track, review, and manage diagnostics for improved patient care and workflow efficiency.

A Zoetis account needs to be established before the integration can be enabled.

Enabling the Integration

This is the first step in setting up the Zoetis integration. You will need your Zoetis account credentials in order to complete the enablement.

Click the arrow to learn more

  1. Click on "Settings"

  2. Click on “Integrations”

  3. Click on the green + icon for the “Zoetis Reference Laboratories” line

  4. Complete the form that appears. The credentials will be your Zoetis account credentials. Please reach out to Zoetis if you need assistance retrieving this information.

Mapping Inventory

In order to submit tests to ZRL, you will need to create inventory items (or edit existing inventory items, see next section). This method is if you do not have any reference laboratory items entered into your system, or if you need to add new tests into your inventory.

To Create a New Inventory Item for the Zoetis Lab Item:

  1. Click on "Inventory"

  2. Click on “New Item”

  3. Enter the name of the Zoetis test in the “Name” field (you can review all of ZRL’s test catalog by typing “Zoetis” first)

  4. Once the lab is selected from the dropdown, complete the rest of the applicable fields for the new lab item

  5. Click “Save + Done”

Tip: If you know the Zoetis test code, you can simply type that code in the name field to quickly find the needed lab

Reference Add On tests need to be mapped the same way. Please see the "Submitting Lab" section to learn about the Add On test workflow.

This method allows for you to edit an existing non-mapped reference lab item, and link it to the Zoetis integration.

Click the arrow to learn more

  1. Navigate to the item’s profile

  2. Click on “Edit Item”

  3. Enter the name of the test in the “Name” field and select the applicable test from the list that appears

  4. Click “Save + Done”

Reference Add On tests need to be mapped the same way. Please see the "Submitting Lab" section to learn about the Add On test workflow.

Submitting Labs

Learn the workflow of how reference labs need to be submitted. The integration is built into the process of creating a medical record for the applicable lab.

  1. Create a medical record under the patient’s history or in a medical note. Please be sure the “Send to Lab” field is set to “Yes

  2. After saving the record, you will be prompted to print the requisition form. This form must accompany the sample so that the tests will be mapped back to the applicable medical record

Multiple labs can be selected within a single medical record. Multiple labs can also be combined into a bundle. Click here to learn more about bundles.

Add On Lab Tests

Add on tests can be applied to an existing reference lab. Follow the below steps to learn how.

  1. Navigate to the applicable patients History > View Records > Laboratory / Diagnostics

  2. Find the applicable laboratory medical record

  3. Click on Tests > New Add on Test

  4. Type the Add On test you need in the "Item" field and select it from the drop down

Reviewing Results

Click the arrow to learn more

Test results will be automatically imported into the applicable medical record. A task will notify the ordering provider of the record that results are available for viewing. Results will include the test values, reference ranges, and a history of prior tests that were run for this patient.
