IDEXX WebPacs Integration

Learn how to enable, setup and use the WebPACS integration.

📝 Overview

Our integration with IDEXX WebPACS enables images captured on your diagnostic machines to automatically upload to your account and link directly to the corresponding patient record. Once the integration is enabled and properly configured, images will seamlessly sync and become accessible within the patient’s profile under the associated medical record, making it easy to view and manage diagnostic imaging in one centralized location.

⚠️ Please note that a subscription to the IDEXX WebPacs service is required in order to use this integration.



​✅ How to Enable the Integration

The first step is enabling the IDEXX WebPacs integration from the Settings.

⚠️ Please have your IDEXX credentials on hand in order to complete enablement.

Follow the steps below to enable:

  1. Click on Settings > Integrations from the left hand navigation

  2. Search for the IDEXX WebPacs Integration in the search bar and click the green plus on the right

  3. Complete the form that appears with your credentials


🩻 How to View and Rename Your Devices

As part of the integration, the software will import a list of the imaging devices available in the practice. From the Settings, click Configuration > View Devices.

By default the devices will be named based on the type of device. For example, an ultrasound device will be named Ultrasound. However, these names can be edited to make it easier to identify the specific device that the imaging request should be sent to when creating a medical record.

To rename a device, click Edit to the right of the applicable device. Provide a Display Name in the form that appears and save. This is the name that will be shown in your account.


🗺️ How to Map Inventory Items (Required Step)

As part of the integration, new inventory sub-categories will be created under the Diagnostic Imaging category. One sub-category will be created for each modality associated with the integrated imaging devices. For example, an Ultrasound sub-category will be created if one of the imaging devices is an ultrasound. All of the inventory items associated with the various imaging devices need to be reassigned into one of these categories so that the integration can trigger the communication with the device when the corresponding medical record is created.

To change an inventory item’s category:

  1. Navigate to the applicable inventory item profile in the Inventory module

  2. Click Edit Item on the top left

  3. Click on the Category field and select the applicable sub-category under the Diagnostic Imaging category

  4. Click Save + Done on the top left


🥼 How to Submit an Image Request & View Results

Once the inventory items are categorized correctly, you can begin submitting image requests to your machines right from your account. Once the image is done, it will be sent back to the patient's record for viewing.

Submitting an Image

Image requests are submitted as part of creating a medical record for the applicable inventory item. When completing the New Record, the field for Send to Device will default to the imaging device associated with the selected item. For example, if a X-Ray 2 Views item is selected, the Send to Device field will select the available radiography devices. If more than one device is available for that type of image, the specific device can be selected for the list that appears.

After the record is saved, an image request will be scheduled in IDEXX WebPACS for processing on the applicable device.


​Viewing Images

Within three minutes of the image being available in IDEXX WebPACS, a link to view that image in the IDEXX WebPACS online editor will be added to the medical record associated with the request. In addition, any available radiology reports will be imported as PDF attachments. Clicking on the image link will open the image in an online editor.

How do I view and rename my imaging devices?

During the integration setup, your imaging devices are automatically imported. To view them, go to Settings > Configuration > View Devices.

Mapping inventory items is a required step. The integration creates new sub-categories under Diagnostic Imaging — one for each imaging modality (e.g., Ultrasound). Inventory items must be assigned to the correct sub-category so the integration knows which device to communicate with when a medical record is created.

To reassign an inventory item:

  1. Navigate to the item's profile in the Inventory module.

  2. Click Edit Item in the top left.

  3. Click the Category field and select the applicable sub-category under Diagnostic Imaging.

  4. Click Save + Done.

Any available radiology reports will also be imported as PDF attachments. Click the image link to open it directly in the IDEXX WebPACS online editor.
