SOUND SmartPACS Integration

Learn how to enable and configure the SOUND SmartPACs Integration.

📝 Overview

This article covers how to set up and use the SOUND SmartPACS integration, including enabling the integration, mapping inventory items to the correct diagnostic imaging categories, submitting image requests through medical records, and viewing completed images.


🔑 How to Enable the Integration

  1. Click Settings > Integrations from the left hand navigation or the Integrations tab if already in the setting module

  2. Click the plus icon next to the SOUND SmartPACS line

  3. Complete the form that appears

⚠️ If you need to contact SOUNDVet to set up this integration, let them know your Cloud MWL Account must be set up and properly configured. They will then be able to provide the Client ID and Client Secret needed to enable the add-on.


🗺️ How to Map Inventory Items

When the integration is enabled, new inventory sub-categories are automatically created under the Diagnostic Imaging category — one sub-category per modality associated with your integrated imaging devices. For example, if one of your devices is an ultrasound, an ultrasound sub-category will be created.

All inventory items associated with your imaging devices must be reassigned to the appropriate sub-category so the integration can trigger communication with the correct device when a medical record is created.

To reassign an inventory item's category:

  1. Navigate to the applicable inventory item profile in the Inventory module

  2. Click Edit Item

  3. Click the Category field and select the applicable sub-category under Radiology

  4. Click Save + Done


📋 How to Submit an Image Request

Image requests are submitted as part of creating a medical record for the applicable inventory item. When completing the New Record form, the Send to Device field will default to the imaging device associated with the selected item. If more than one device is available for that image type, you can select the specific device from the list that appears.

After the record is saved, an image request will be scheduled in SOUND SmartPACS for processing on the applicable device.

💡 Image requests must be submitted through your account. SOUND SmartPACS does not support retrieving images ordered outside of the platform.


🔍 Viewing Images

Once an image request has been processed, a link to view the image in SOUND's online editor will be added to the associated medical record.
