In DaySmart Vet, a Task is a "message" that be sent to any individual person, or group of people within the clinic. The message could be about anything, but typically it relates to a task that needs to be done, such as calling an owner to provide test results, checking inventory levels of certain materials, etc.

Creating Tasks

Tasks can be created manually or automatically using Actions. Some tasks are also automatically created by the software. For example, if you use our Antech integration, a task will notify the provider when test results are available from Antech. For unassigned labs, a task will notify the user assigned as the 'Default Task Receiver' or the longest existing administrator if no one is assigned as the Default Task Receiver, on the account automatically.

Tasks can be created manually with the following steps:

  1. Clicking on the bell icon at the top of each page and selecting the “new task” option, or under the “tasks” view in Schedule, or by clicking the plus icon at the top right corner of the task module

  2. Complete the form that appears

  3. Click on Save + Done

From the patient profile:

  1. Navigate to the patient profile

  2. Click the tasks tab and select "New Task"

  3. Fill out the form that appears

  4. Click Save + Done

Once a task is created, an alert will notify the person or people that a new task has been assigned to them.

Tasks can also be created automatically using actions in inventory items or in bundles via the Actions tab. Click here to learn more about Actions.

Viewing Tasks

Tasks that have been assigned to you can be viewed by clicking on the bell icon at the top of the page and selecting the “assigned to me” option, or by selecting the “assigned to me” option under the tasks view in the Schedule. You can also view tasks that you have created or tasks by status. By default, you’ll see the list of tasks that are due on the current day, as well as any past due tasks. You can scroll between days by clicking the arrow icons, or jump to a specific day by clicking the calendar icon.

The task icon in the upper right of the screen will show a red bubble with the number of tasks that are past due or due that day for a user.

Task Status

In the new task view, you will see the status displayed next to the task indicating whether it is open, in progress, or completed. You can click on the task to view it in the display and use the buttons at the bottom to mark a task as in progress or complete:

Reports

There are several reports that can be used to oversee task activity in your practice. These include reports that summarize task activity, list open tasks, and list completed tasks. Tasks reports are available under the “staff” tab in Reports. Please note that these reports can only be viewed with proper permissions.
