Overview

The Label Printer Manager is required to print prescription labels in DaySmart Vet because it connects your computer to your label printer, ensuring labels are formatted correctly and sent to the right device. Without it, the system cannot communicate with your printer to generate and print prescription labels.

Process for downloading and installing the Label Printer Manager

1. Download the Label Printer Manager. The Label Printer Manager can be found under the Configurations > View Configurations in Settings. Click the gear icon to the right of “Label Printer Manager”. Select the operating system, copy the API key (you’ll need this later), and click “Download” to begin the download.

2. Run the installer. After the installer downloads, double-click on the file to begin the installation process. For Macs, the installer may be ejected once the installation process is done.

On Windows you may see a warning message pop up. Click on "More Info" and select "Allow" or "Continue" to continue the installation process.

At this time Apple has not completed its certification process, so the manager will need to be manually opened by navigating to Applications, right clicking on “Label Print Manager”, and selecting “Open". Select “Open” in the warning window that appears (you may need to do this twice to get the “Open” option).

Setting a Default Label Printer for Automatic Prescription Printing

If you have multiple label printers, you can set one as the default in the "View Printers" configuration. This ensures that labels for specific inventory items print automatically when the item is added to a new record. To enable this, go to the inventory module, find the item, and set the "Print label" field to "Yes" When this item is added to a new record, the "Label" field will automatically use your default printer.
